Senior News 05.04.23

Jennifer Fitzhum of Okanogan County Transportation and Nutrition (OCTN) has seen some interest in the job opening for a cook.  If you are interested in this position, please contact her at 509-826-4391 ext 4. The website for OCTN also has information that might be helpful. The Tonasket Senior Center cook will be in Oroville Friday May 5.  Chicken Tetrazzini, Caesar Salad, Italian Vegetables, Grapes and a Dessert are on the menu. We will also be celebrating May birthdays on May 5.

The Oroville May Day Royalty joined our Senior Royalty, Gordon and Nancy Roberts, and our members for lunch on April 27. Kally and Cheryl set a special table for them as is traditionally done. We hope the Royalty enjoyed their visit as much as we enjoyed them.  We hope they have great weather and many awesome memories of our May festival. Oroville will be well represented as they travel to other festivals. We appreciate their hard work as they fulfill their duties, the work of the chaperons, and the parents who support these girls during their reign.  Our admiration and thanks to ALL OF YOU.

The new chairs have arrived and what an improvement to the center!  They are beautiful and have added ambiance to the dining room and should provide much needed comfort. There is no reason these chairs can't last our lifetimes.  They have a weight rating WAY more than any of us weigh!  Our thanks to Pam, Kally, Betty, Marni and Susan for pulling ALL 100 OF THEM out of the truck, wiping them down, and placing them throughout the building. Congregants, puzzle lovers, pinochle players, and even the exercise group will enjoy the benefits of these new chairs

Pinochle scores for April 29 were: HIGH-Ted Paris, LOW-Judy Ripley, MOST PINOCHLES-Ted Paris.  Join them at 7:00 Saturday evening if you play or want to learn.

I recently saw a reference to “younger” in an article.  A reminder - No one wants to be a victim of age discrimination, and in an organization such as Oroville Senior Citizens, we need to remain confident in the abilities of ALL members, regardless of age, to make our center flow and grow.
