Scams and Medicare Fraud are an ongoing problem.
Vigilance regarding our email, our phone conversations with strangers and even our medical visits billed through Medicare are all subject to fraud. Recently I overheard a customer at the post office state that she had received an email that her package was undeliverable. She had opened the email and thankfully had not entered the requested information. The clerk said “we never send an email.” DO NOT OPEN any email from anyone unless you recognize the sender! If you cannot hear the conversation on your phone, HANG UP.
A local person happened to look at their explanation of benefits from Medicare and discovered a charge that shouldn’t have been on their statement. After contact with Medicare, it was discovered that this fraudulent monthly charge had been going on for a couple years! Please check your statements from Medicare and verify that charges are for services you have received.
