Senior News 02.29.24

Looking forward to more informative events for our seniors!

The Scam and Fraud Awareness event hosted by the Oroville Chamber and OSC on Sat Feb 24 reminded us that the modern world is enabling many ways we can become victims of scams and fraud. We were warned of opening emails from unknown senders. In this era, just opening the email can be risky so delete emails without opening. Phone calls from strange numbers might not even be from a human but a generated voice created by AI (artificial intelligence). If there is an urgent demand or requests for personal information, tell the caller you will call back and hang up. No government agency contacts through the phone. Contact law enforcement and report any suspicious activity. We were reminded to be cautious of who we allow to perform caregiving or other services in our homes. Stay vigilant, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Menu for Thursday Feb 29 - Chicken Burger Deluxe, Sweet Potato Fries, Coleslaw and Waldorf Salad: Friday Mar 1 - Salmon with Dill Sauce, Pesto Pasta, and Garden Salad: Monday Mar 4 - Ham Sandwich, Split Pea Soup and Cucumber Salad: Tuesday Mar 5 - Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy, Egg Noodles and Tossed Salad: Thursday Mar 7 - Stuffed Pepper Casserole, Green Beans and WW Roll.

Pinochle scores for Feb 24 are HIGH: Barb Cline, LOW: Nita Likkel and MOST DOUBLE PINOCHLES: Ted Paris and Len Firpo were tied.
